On killing ideas
Do it early; do it often; do it with care.
Terminating ideas mercilessly works best when (1) stopping and success criteria are determined in advance, (2) all persons involved are treated with respect and all criticism is targeted at the idea, with understanding that having a bit of ego included within it is inevitable, and (3) there is a system in place that allows ideas to freely flow into it, as long as they meet predefined investment criteria.
