Why should we measure our innovation performance at all?

From a recent call:

Executive: "Why should we measure our innovation performance at all?"

Bruno: "To understand how much dollars you are getting back for every dollar you have invested."

Executive: "Huh. That sounds fair."

Bruno: "Right. Let's get to it."

The larger your organisation is, the more it will benefit from an innovation accounting system.
