What is your business?

Understanding your current business as it actually is, versus how you think it should or might be, is critical for your ability to improve and innovate it further.

Start by answering the basic questions like:

  • How do we create value?
  • How do we deliver value?
  • How do we capture value?

There are many tools and methods that can help you understand your business. I suggest Business Model Canvas because it visually embeds the business model logic:
