On Taking Learning Seriously

Driving innovation in large enterprises is about delivering on both performance and learning objectives. The former are the ultimate show of success, while the latter ensure we are moving in the right direction with confidence and speed.

There is no balance, trade-off, or compromise between these performance and learning goals. They are not in conflict, they are not opposites, they are not competing. They are interwoven and mutually reinforcing. Although performance gets significant visibility, innovation without learning is nothing but a gamble.
