On Why Demand Trumps Everything
The dark gray plastic was cold to the touch. The surface was slightly sticky. Running my fingers over it confirmed that it gently bulged upwards. Although I was unsure what might be the problem, I was quite sure that something growing in size within laptop surely cannot be good.
After some research, I identified the lithium battery as the most likely culprit. Now, this being an ultrabook—one of those ultraslim business laptops—meant that the only way to remove the battery was to disassemble the laptop. And so I ordered a replacement unit, as well as special tools for working with such fine components.
Cold sweat rolled down my neck and forehead on the day of the operation. I prepared as much as I could. I watched videos. Read and re-read the manual. Studied schematics. Prepared an area for all the different screws. And then I got to work.
