Knowing when to stop is a very useful skill.

Here are few practices to get you started:

  • define minimum success criteria, as well as a deadline for meeting them, in advance;
  • keep breaking work into smaller chunks until you can deliver something of impact in six weeks or less; and
  • hold each other accountable, especially regarding the stopping criteria.

You know how they say: if it's good, it'll come back.
