Back to basics

It's fascinating how many turnaround stories are about eliminating cruft and refocusing on core capabilities and customers.

When Lego was $800M in debt, losing $1M a day, they dropped everything that didn't directly deal with their core product—blocks—and maintained a sharp focus on it.

I have observed leaders repeatedly ignore the growth (and innovation!) potential of focusing on the organisation's core capabilities and customers.

There are countless ways of creating value for existing customers, especially if we are well informed about their needs and desired outcomes.

Why let such great opportunity in plain sight go to waste?
