Most innovation initiatives fail.

Depending on the industry, between 70% and 90% of all innovation investments fail to generate any meaningful returns, let alone create outsized results most dream of when they hear "innovation."

Number one reason of failure?

Organisations themselves!

Not competition, not external factors, not "somebody else."

If you are an executive, manager, or senior leader tasked with leading innovation then you will benefit greatly from The Innovation Organisation Advantage seminar.

You will walk away with:

  • From-the-trenches advice on how to slightly tweak and adjust your organisation so it actively supports innovation, instead of actively hindering it.
  • Three particular activities you must implement today to prepare your organisation for the future.
  • A practical framework for shaping innovation teams that deliver.
  • Specific steps for creating your own innovation board that protects the budget, makes decisions fly, and maximises innovation ROI.
  • Pragmatic guidance on how to help your CFO do their job without making innovation impossible.

Please read below to learn more about the topics, speakers, venue and timing, as well as registration details.

Architects, Builders, and Enablers: Three Orientations that Shape Your Team's Purpose, Structure and Success

Most organisations set up innovation teams without ever agreeing what they're actually there to do. Are they exploring new markets? Building new products? Enabling innovation across the business? The answer changes everything—from who you hire to how you measure success.

Drawing on 10 years leading innovation teams in government and national security, Susie Braam shares a practical framework for the three core orientations every innovation team must choose between, and what happens when you get the choice wrong.

Harnessing Executive Power: Innovation Boards That Work

Innovation boards, sometimes also called growth or venture boards, are special-purpose governing bodies with mandate to invest into innovative projects and ventures.

They are the best spend of executives' time, ensuring they focus on the right issues at the right time, while protecting the organisation's assets.

When done well, the results include dramatically faster decision making time, greater ROI on risky and innovative initiatives, and more efficient resource allocation.

Bruno Pešec will walk you through the most important steps to establish—or enhance—your very own innovation board. He will address who should sit on the board, what are the key tasks of board members, how should they be supported, and how can they avoid the gruesome fate of becoming just another committee.

Speakers

Susie Braam

Susie Braam has spent over 20 years working at the sharp end of innovation and transformation in large organisations.

As Head of Innovation at both the Ministry of Defence and the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, she designed innovation strategies, built multi-disciplinary teams, and established training programmes that reached over 5,000 people across the UK National Security community.

She has since advised organisations including NATO, BP, Bertelsmann, and the Scottish Government on innovation leadership, team design, and organisational change. Susie's "Architects, Builders, and Enablers" framework —drawn from hard-won lessons about what makes innovation teams succeed or fail—has become a go-to resource for leaders building innovation capability.

Bruno Pešec

Most companies talk about innovation. Very few actually profit from it.

Bruno Pešec is one of the rare advisors who has helped senior leaders unlock €1 billion in new revenue and open doors to €28 billion in new market opportunities—not by preaching theory, but by rolling up his sleeves inside organisations across defence, manufacturing, financial services, education, healthcare, and more.

Bruno is a trusted advisor, keynote speaker, author, and doctoral researcher on corporate innovation. He has worked with global brands like DNV, DNB, and Kongsberg Group, co-founded Norway's largest Lean Startup community, and has been trained by Toyota in corporate value creation. He brings the rare combination of rigorous academic thinking, hard-won practitioner experience, and a direct voice that cuts through the noise.
