Don't be a gatekeeper

Are you helping others in your organisation or are you acting as a glorified gatekeeper?

The former wants their peers to succeed and is behaving as their partner, ensuring the best result possible.

The latter acts as a police officer, ensuring compliance at all cost, and rejects any accountability for the final outcome.

I've met very few intentional gatekeepers; but a great deal of "partners," "shared services," and "support units" that act like them.

Perhaps this is the wake up call you need.
