On squiggles

People like to use squiggly lines to show how non-linear the world is. And yet, if you zoom in enough even the curviest of curves can be approximated with a straight line (i.e. a tangent).

Sure, innovation is a squiggly line, but that doesn't mean it should be up to luck for navigating it. Zooming in to the right level is helpful for making an informed decision about what to do next.

Holding both views—concurrently—allows us to handle uncertainty better.
