Leaders are responsible for developing their people. Investing in their development is one of the best returns they can get on their own time invested.
Giving thoughtful feedback is an indispensable part of development because no system can get better without it.
Think about this way: if you do something and then don’t think about it, don’t know how it went, don’t know the results, don’t know the consequences, then you don’t know if you should do it again or not. There is no change, no improvement, no development.
Keyword is thoughtful feedback, which requires the leader to think themselves instead of just dumping observations and whatever is their top of mind on the person receiving the feedback.
