Rapid change

Big-bang, end-to-end, do-or-die, transformations create big-bang disappointments of equal, or bigger, proportion.

If you wish to enact rapid change, then you are better off with surgical strikes. Identify the issue at hand, communicate it, select a group of people to deal with it, and do it. Rinse and repeat.

Becoming "more innovative" or "customer oriented" are nothing but trite remarks with little substance. When that is the goal then anything goes, including "transformations" that primarily consist of employee brainwashing.

Be specific and focus on practical. Instead of becoming "more innovative," identify what are your innovation blockers right now, and then deal with them. One by one, so you don't have to run a twelve month program.
