Miyamoto Musashi, legendary Japanese swordsman, trained his eyes to see both near and far. Since it is easier to register an attack with peripheral vision can, this practice served him well in many duels he had. The same can be applied to innovation and strategy: while focusing on the thing right in front of us is important we must never forget that a knock-out can come from around the corner.
