Best innovation funnels are akin to rivers. Ideas flow downstream, unobstructed as long as they can pass carefully selected filters. The more filters they pass, the more they are worth our time. And if they fail to pass the first filter, then they are rarely worth the rework.

Innovators tend to the ideas, shaping them so they can pass all the filters. Leaders tend to filters, shaping them so they let through only ideas that the organisation is truly interested and willing to invest in.

Together they form a healthy innovation ecosystem.
